Bringing AI into education — responsibly and effectively

I help ministries, institutions and programmes integrate artificial intelligence in ways that strengthen teaching, governance and decision-making — grounded in 32 years in the education sector.

  • AI integration that fits real institutions, not just pilots

  • Team leadership across international education and reform programmes

  • Clear communication that aligns ministries, donors and partners

About

I am a senior consultant and team leader with 32 years of experience in education programmes across emerging economies and post-socialist countries, financed by GIZ, the EU, KfW, the World Bank, USAID and SIDA.

My work spans the entire value chain of education — from setting up a dual vocational school in finance in Armenia, to national TVET reform in Kazakhstan, to institutional restructuring in Pakistan and evaluating EU budget support in Tajikistan.

Today I focus on bringing AI into education thoughtfully: advising on AI-enhanced governance, education planning and data systems, so that technology strengthens institutions and serves learners rather than distracting from them.

  • 32 years in the international education sector

  • PhD in Economics (St Petersburg State University) and MBA (The Open University, UK)

  • Lecturer on education reform in post-Soviet countries, Humboldt University Berlin

  • GIZ · EU · World Bank · KfW · USAID · SIDA programme experience

How I work

Approach

A grounded, four-step way of working that makes reform — and AI adoption — stick beyond the project.

  1. 01

    Listen & assess

Understand the institution, its people and its real constraints before proposing anything.

  2. 02

    Strategise

Design a realistic, ethical roadmap for reform and AI adoption, aligned with national priorities.

  3. 03

    Build capacity

Train teams, set up structures and partnerships, and put evidence and data systems in place.

  4. 04

    Sustain

Embed practices and ownership so change outlasts any single programme or expert.
